It gives the Briscoe family great pleasure to provide the judges of the 2007 excellence in building awards with a reference for our new home in Lilli Pilli NSW.Our builder was deWinter award winning homes, the project was managed throughout by Paul deWinter.

The excellence is captured to a large extent by the way Paul has interpreted the architectural design and the pleasure comes in the nature and professionalism with which both the architect and Paul de Winter dealt with us as owners given the difficult task we presented them with, we sought a truly artistic and beautifully constructed home to blend in with the environment of Mosquit Bay, Lilli Pilli. The architect set the building down to capture both the natural bush and waterfront location.The builder further enhanced this process by solid craftsmanship through out,attention to detail and his always receptive consultative manner.This was particularly important given that for most of the time we lived in Canberra and much of the decision making was by phone or email with intermittent site visits.

Laurie and I had previously built in Canberra where we had designed an energy efficient brick and colourbond home. We had used the colourbond both internally and externally and were very happy with the final appearance, we loved the uniquely Australian corrugated iron look.

It was this look we wanted to replicate when we approached de Winter Award winning homes to design and construct our new home at Malua Bay.It was imperative that the home face the distant water views, taking in the foreground rural aspect and the north-eastern sun.

It was important to us that the building blend with the bush setting and local colours. At the builders suggestion the internal mini orb ceiling lining was a metallic silver colour picking up some of the spotted gum trees retained on site and beautifully contrasting with the spotted gum flooring used through out the living areas

We are very happy with the finished project, the workmanship and attention to detail is a credit to the de Winter company.We also appreciate how much effort and detail was in the process and not immediately evident to the casual observer.
